Strengthening the Business Community
The Treasure Coast is creating an environment where businesses can thrive, regardless of an entrepreneur’s background or expertise. WeVenture at Florida Tech’s College of Business is focused on helping women-owned businesses succeed through its IGNITE 360 mentoring program. The Treasure Coast Black Chamber of Commerce aids minority businesses and entrepreneurs regardless of their development stage, helping them build business plans and acquire capital resources. Martin County has also established a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program to assist socially and economically disadvantaged businesses.

Comprehensive Business Startup
Considering going into business? Need help with strategic planning? Florida’s SBDC has been helping entrepreneurs since 1976, leading to thousands of successful new businesses. The SBDC at Indian River State College is staffed by expert consultants who are solution-focused, whether a business owner needs help with digital advertising or wants to start selling their products internationally. The center also offers workshops and seminars to help businesses grow.

Paving the Way for Business Ownership
If you think entrepreneurship might be in the future for your children, Florida’s recent focus on building small businesses might be of interest. In 2022, the Martin County School District presented hundreds of students with Entrepreneurship and Small Business certifications as part of their career and technical education (CTE) training. Indian River State College also offers degree programs in business administration while Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Fort Pierce offers AACSB-accredited business degrees through its College of Business. Entrepreneur even included FAU in its Top 50 Best Undergrad Programs for Entrepreneurs of 2022.
